Pressure equipment are important tools used in a wide range of areas, from industrial facilities to power plants, from the chemical industry to the food industry. However, proper design, manufacture and use of such equipment is critical for safety and compliance. In this context, the Pressure Equipment Regulation has been published to ensure the suitability and safety of pressure equipment.

What is the Pressure Equipment Regulation?

The Pressure Equipment Regulation (2014/68/EU) determines the basic health and safety requirements of pressure equipment and equipment with a PS pressure greater than 0.5 bar, and the conditions for placing these products on the market. The regulation covers a range of equipment such as pressure vessels, pressure cylinders, boilers, valves, and regulators.

Within the scope of the Pressure Equipment Regulation, manufacturers must first determine the category of the product. This categorization is determined according to the type of equipment, the hazard class of the fluid that creates the pressure, and the working pressure of the product.

After the relevant category is determined, a conformity assessment must be made in line with the module corresponding to that category.
