Nowadays, environment and energy efficiency are becoming an increasingly important issue for businesses and consumers. In this context, Eco-design and energy labeling regulations and implementation communiqués aim to achieve sustainability goals by encouraging the development and marketing of environmentally friendly and energy-saving products. While eco-design aims to reduce the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle, energy labeling offers consumers a better understanding of their energy consumption and the opportunity to make informed choices.

What is the Eco Design Regulation?

The Eco Design Regulation (2009/125/EC) aims to reduce the environmental impacts of products directly related to energy consumption. The regulation encourages the use of energy efficiency and environmentally friendly technologies that take into account the environmental impact of products from their design.

The Regulation on Environmentally Friendly Design of Energy-Related Products regulates the framework of the conditions regarding energy efficiency and environmental performance that are mandatory for the marketing of many energy-related products, especially electrical appliances.

The requirements for the products are determined by the implementing communiqués and the conditions of these communiqués must be fulfilled by the manufacturers.

What is the Energy Labeling Regulation?

The Energy Labeling Regulation (2017/1369/EU) covers a labeling system that clearly indicates to consumers the energy efficiency level of all energy-consuming products within the European Union. This regulation offers consumers the opportunity to shop more consciously, encouraging them to reduce their energy consumption and choose environmentally friendly products.
